US H1B visa reform bill : Minimum pay doubled to $130,000

The New President Donald Trump plans new reforms to the H1-B Visa Program.  Lot of Indians working in/ looking for US H1-b visas concerned about the talk of the New H1-B.  A legislation has been introduced in the US House of Representatives backing key changes in the H1-B visa programme that allows skilled workers from other countries to fill jobs in the U.S.


The New Bill introduced seeks to increase the minimum salary of H1-B visa holders to $1,30,000 per annum. The minimum salary of H-1B visa holders is doubled from $60,000 to $130,000, making it difficult for firms to use the programme to replace American employees with foreign workers, including from India.

The new law comes as a big shock to the Indian Industry and US visa aspirants. Under the H1B and L1 Visa Reform, the Department of Labor (DOL) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would have additional oversight authority to investigate fraud and abuse as well as to increase penalties for companies that violate the bill’s requirements.
